CKSM-2 test kit
Optical loss test kit
Delivering accurate and efficient insertion loss measurement.

Kits for single and multi-mode loss testing.
Rugged, palm sized tools for contractors.
The AFL Test & Inspection CKSM-2 Contractor Series Test Kit combines the CSM1-2 optical power meter, CSS1-MM Dual LED light source, and CSS1-SM Dual LASER source to provide a cost-effective test kit designed for performing insertion loss measurements on multi-mode as well as single-mode fibre optic links.
CSM1 power meter
- CSM1-4 (Filtered InGaAs) High Power (+26 dB) for CATV or DWDM system applications
- CSM1-3 (InGaAs) for standard single-mode networks
- CSM1-2 (Ge) for mixed LAN/WAN single-mode and multimode neworks
- CSM1-1 (Si) for plastic optical fibre networks
CSS1 dual LED light source
- CSS1-MM: 850/1300 nm multimode Light source
- CSS1-SM: 1310/1550 nm single-mode Laser source
Contractor series test kits
CSM1 power meters with CSS1 light sources shipped in a convenient carry case with room for test cords, cleaning supplies, and other accessories. Kits for all applications: single-mode (CKS), multimode (CKM), and mixed (CKSM).
Applications
- Link loss measurements
- Certify SM and MM links to industry standards
- Continuity check and fiber identification prior to fusion splicing
Key Features
CSM1 power meter
Four models provide wide wavelength and power level ranges.
Stores optical references for each calibrated wavelength.
Auto-detects test tones for use in fibre identification.
Optical input port accepts a variety of thread-on adapter caps.
CSS1-SM laser source
1310nm and 1550nm laser output from single test port.
Output port accepts UCI threaded adapters
(FC, SC, ST, LC) for flexibility and access to launch fibre for
cleaning and inspection.
CSS1 sources transmit:
CW continuous wave output (DC).
Test Tones (2000, 1000, 330, 270Hz) for fibre identification.
– Use power meters when technician has fibre end access
– Use OFI (optical fibre identifier) for mid-span testing
CSS1-MM LED source
850 nm and 1300 nm LED output from single test port
50 μm and 62.5 μm mandrels included.
Test Tones (2000, 1000, 330, 270 Hz) for fiber identification.
