Test and Inspection
FlowScout SE
Single-ended test set
For fast, accurate results without the need for double-ended testing.

Smarter fibre testing, without the complexity.
FlowScout SE100 simplifies fibre verification, cuts costs, and boosts technician safety—delivering fast, accurate results without the need for double-ended testing.
The FlowScout SE100 is purpose-built to verify fibre continuity and measure insertion loss using AFL’s 1430nm wavelength optical reflectors. When a reflector is detected, the device instantly measures insertion loss at 1430nm, while allowing other wavelengths like PON to pass through unaffected. This means reflectors can remain in place during normal network operation, enabling seamless testing without service disruption.
By combining an optical light source and power meter into one compact, cost-effective unit, the FlowScout SE100 allows a single technician to complete testing without the need for a second device or colleague. This not only reduces equipment and labour costs by over 50%, but also eliminates the time-consuming setup and coordination required for traditional double-ended testing. Fewer site visits and less time spent at subscriber premises translates into faster testing and fewer logistical challenges.
The SE100 enhances the customer experience by enabling remote testing from distribution panels or splitters, removing the need for on-site troubleshooting of FTTH drop issues. It also supports service providers’ goals to reduce costs through subscriber self-install ONT initiatives, helping avoid scheduling delays and access issues.
Technician safety is improved by eliminating repeated tower climbs, as testing can be performed from the distribution unit using reflectors installed at the radio unit. The SE100 also ensures test integrity with built-in detection for excess reflection and live fibres, alerting users to potential issues caused by damaged or dirty connectors. It’s a smarter, safer, and more efficient way to test fibre—without compromise.
Applications:
Used to verify:
- FTTH continuity and insertion loss during service activation or troubleshooting
- FTTA continuity and insertion loss between Distribution Unit (DU) and Radio Unit (RU)
- Fiber backhaul continuity and insertion loss to demarcation point
Key Features
Here are some of the ways the FlowScout SE streamlines workflows and ensures reliable network performance.
Single-ended testing
Verifies fibre continuity and insertion loss at 1430nm using AFL Optical Reflectors so there’s no need for access at both ends.
Integrated test functions
Combines an optical light source and power meter in one compact unit to reduce reduce equipment needs and simplify field testing.
Reflection detection
Detects excess reflection and displays Optical Return Loss (ORL) to identify issues like dirty or damaged connectors.
Live fibre alerts
Automatically detects and notifies users of live fibres, preventing test errors and protecting network integrity.
Built-in CW reflectometer
Uses continuous wave reflectometry to instantly measure insertion loss to the reflector which ensures fast, accurate results.
