WE HAVE LAUNCHED our new CT11x series of fibre optic cleavers with key upgrades for improved cleaving quality and usability for engineers and researchers.

The new lineup of specialist cleavers, from one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fibre optic equipment, comprises the CT114, CT115, and CT116. All three models enable accurate cleaving of large diameter optical fibres, which are typically used for applications including laser systems, medical devices, and sensors.
A leading feature of the new CT11x series is its blade management; the automatic cleaving blade position provides consistent cleaving quality and means users don’t need to worry about the blade condition. Concern over continued high quality cleaves as the blade wears has been eliminated from all three models, all of which benefit from this automatic blade position change mechanism.
The CT11x series is equipped with an RFID receiver so it can select the appropriate cleave mode based on the RFID information it receives from the fibre holder, which transmits the fibre diameter. With the programmes stored in advance, it helps to eliminate failed cleaves due to the incorrect programme being selected.
The CT115 and CT116 now include an auto backstop – an upgrade from the outgoing models, which required engineers to manually position the backstop under a microscope. The new auto backstop functionality not only provides better cleave quality—especially for large-diameter and complex structure fibres—but also helps protect the blade. Instead of manual positioning, the backstop on the CT115 and CT116 now moves up to the fibre and positions automatically for optimal results.
Commenting on the new CT11x series, Sameen Saleem, European Business Development Engineer at Fujikura Europe, said:
“The new series is an upgrade on our CT-104+, CT-105+ and CT-106+ fibre optic cleavers with new automated features to make cleaving as easy as possible for users.
“We are synonymous with fibre optic technology and our latest research and development has enabled us to essentially improve on the already popular CT series with this new release. The auto backstop provides better cleave quality and with our blade management technology, engineers and researchers can rely on good blade condition.
“Our customers will benefit from the speed and accuracy of the performance of the CT11x series, so they can get better results and outcomes on the projects they’re working on.”
The new CT11x range of cleavers bolsters Fujikura’s specialty product range as it complements the recently launched FSR range of optical fibre recoaters.
