Our new core alignment fusion splicer is the world's first to feature a dual fibre preparation system
The new 100S ensures a faster operational cycle time by making fibre preparation quicker and more intuitive for engineers.
We are pleased to unveil the 100S, our new next-generation single-fibre core alignment splicer that introduces the world’s first dual-fibre preparation system on a core alignment splicer. This innovative system enables engineers and installers to strip, cleave and load two fibres at once – a key step forward in fibre installation and maintenance.
The 100S, the successor to the widely adopted, 90S+, has undergone a thoughtful evolution that streamlines every stage of the fibre preparation process and ensures a more intuitive splicing workflow.
Building on our reputation for reliability and innovation in fusion splicer technology, the 100S features Fujikura Active Fusion Control and Active Blade Management technologies, ensuring low splice loss through real-time fusion control and intelligent blade management that automatically adjusts for wear. But with its dual-fibre preparation system, this model offers a distinct advantage over other core alignment splicers.
“The 100S enhances an engineer’s workflow and supports the efficiency of their network installations and maintenance like no other splicer ever has to date”
Yamato Sakurai, Technical Director, Fujikura Europe
Dual-fibre preparation begins with engineers stripping two fibres simultaneously with the SS05 strippers. Those fibres can then be simultaneously cleaved in the new CT60 cleaver, which also launched today, before both being placed in the 100S at the same time. The 100S has a fibre clamping mechanism which allows the user to load two fibres into the splicer at once. When the left and right fibres are set in the base of the sheath clamp, the setting mechanism responds to pressure from the operator’s fingers and causes the sheath clamp lids to close automatically, eliminating the need to close them manually with a free hand.
This more efficient way of preparing fibres reduces the overall splice time (from prep to taking a completed splice from the heater) by 20%, speeding up installation and maintenance projects.
“The 100S enhances an engineer’s workflow and supports the efficiency of their network installations and maintenance like no other splicer ever has to date,” says Yamato Sakurai, Technical Director at Fujikura Europe. “When we are developing a new splicer, we are considering the realities of being in the field working and the challenges engineers face. That’s what led us to create a system that allows the user to prepare two fibres simultaneously. Having this available on our core alignment machine is a real benchmark and one that we believe will help engineers and installers around the world in improving delivery and output, while maintaining low splice loss in the process.”
Other key features of the 100S include:
New fibre guides: Improved fibre placement guides make positioning precise, repeatable, and easier for new engineers, ensuring consistent, high-quality splices.
Refined design and durability: A high-quality matt thermoplastic finish, tough rubber bumpers and drop-testing on all six faces delivers exceptional robustness and reliability.
Splice coach: A new guided feature that supports users through the splicing process with clear, step-by-step assistance, for engineers who wish to use it.
Built-in GPS: Records and stores the exact location of every splice for accurate tracking and documentation of project progress.
Enhanced adaptability: Can be charged with a portable power bank, features a 4.95-inch adjustable colour touchscreen, and comes with a multifunction workstation for flexible use in any environment.
We have also launched the new CT60 cleaver as part of the 100S product release. The cleaver has been redesigned compared with predecessors for one-handed operation and has variable opening angles (60 and 80 degrees) for easier use and blade access. The blade offers 28 position settings, with no height-adjustment needed, simplifying setup and maintenance.
