Connecting a customer’s premises comes with its unique challenges, especially when you’re in a customer’s house and they need their connection to continue working, getting on with life administration or simply keep the children entertained. Testing the connection, navigating the premises and customer management are just a few of the skills required to ensure another successful connection and a happy customer.

That’s where the 45S comes in. Thanks to its innovative simultaneous fibre preparation features, it boasts a 30% faster operational cycle time compared to our previous active cladding alignment splicer. That’s more time to focus on the details – on testing, on meeting a customer’s needs, on crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.

Simultaneous fibre preparation has three steps – stripping, cleaving, and setting in the splicer.

Dual stripping
Included in the 45S kit is the new SS05 fibre stripper, which has two 250µm holes, allowing you to strip two 250µm fibres at the same time. This SS05 also lets you strip a 2mm/3mm fibre and a 900µm fibre.

Dual cleaving
The CT50 included with the 45S now has a new AD-16A dual fibre adapter, allowing you to cleave two fibres at the same time.

The dual cleaving process is as simple as you’d expect – set the fibre in the grooves and press down on the cleaver to cleave in a single operation, rather than in two separate ones.

Dual setting
With the 45S, there is a new clamp mechanism that closes automatically, so when left and right fibres are set in the base of the sheath clamp, a setting mechanism responds to pressure from the operator’s fingers and causes the sheath clamp lids to close automatically. This feature eliminates the need to place each fibre into the splicer’s V-grooves separately and you no longer need your spare hand to close the fibre clamp while the other one holds the fibre.
