Purpose of Export Control

The purpose of export controls is to protect national security and foreign policy by ensuring that relevant exports are kept out of the hands of unauthorised users and not used for unauthorised purposes.

Awareness Activities Internally
  1. Employees whose roles are significantly exposed to Export Controls, receive internal training, both from within Fujikura Europe Ltd. and from the Export Control Office of Fujikura Ltd.
  2. All employees are regularly reminded of Export Control and are informed of any changes.
  3. Regular communication with Fujikura Ltd. to ensure that knowledge is shared.
  4. Fujikura Europe Ltd. has an internal set of Export Control regulations and procedures, which are regularly reviewed by the Export Control Manager.
‘Controlled’ Goods

A small number of our products are ‘listed’ on the UK’s ‘Strategic Export Control List’. When enquiries for these products are made, we require that a Transaction Screening Sheet (TSS) is completed, so that we can verify that the goods are not being used by prohibited entities or for prohibited reasons. Our internal order processing system flags up when any ‘controlled’ product is ordered. We ensure that all relevant checks are performed, to identify whether any specific export documentation is required.

End Use (‘Catch All’) Controls

To ensure that we adhere to ‘End Use’ controls, we check our business transactions and where appropriate, ask our customers to complete a ‘TSS’ to ensure that we are not participating in any business transactions that violate these controls.

Sanctions & Embargoes

We regularly review the latest sanctions that affect our business to ensure that we are not participating with prohibited entities/people/countries.

EAR

A Small number of our products that are manufactured in the USA are subject to EAR controls. We adhere to ensuring that these controls are not violated and we therefore perform checks on transactions/exports of these products.

Export Licenses

We hold Open General Export License’s (OGEL’s) that cover shipments of most of our ‘Controlled’ products from our UK HQ to specific countries around the world. Where an individual export license is necessary for exports from our UK HQ, we will seek to obtain an appropriate export license from the UK governments Export Licensing department (ECJU).
