Following hot the heels of the recently launched 90S core alignment fusion splicer, we are pleased to announce the latest evolution in the development of the mass fusion splicer with the launch of the new 90R series range.

The new 90R series range consists of three separate models:
• 90R4 – designed to splice up to 4 fibre ribbon cables simultaneously
• 90R12 – designed to splice up to 12 fibre ribbon cables simultaneously
• 90R16 – which is designed to splice up to 16 fibre ribbon cables simultaneously

In mass fusion splicing, it is a long-standing issue that glass particles which have evaporated and subsequently cooled as part of the fusion splicing process can stick to both the discharge electrode and V-groove area, which in turn could lead to fibre offsets and high losses if they were not regularly cleaned which added to the overall process time.

It can prove challenging to remove the glass particles that accumulate within the V-groove area often making it necessary to return the assembly to a repair center for removal of these glass particles.

The 90R series solves this long-standing issue with a first of its kind, innovative user replaceable V-groove assembly incorporating electrodes which makes this issue a thing of the past and is supplied as standard equipment with the 90R range. This new V-groove assembly can be quickly and easily fitted in the field, minimizing downtime and maximising productivity.

The new V-groove design also enables splicing of both 250um and 200um pitch fibresand is fully compatible with single fibres, standard encapsulated ribbons as well as Spider Web Ribbon types.
Overall working time has been significantly reduced against the previous model (70R+).

This has been achieved through a combination of improvements that include the replaceable v-grooves, reaction time of the automated wind protectors and automated heater, a 5-inch LCD touch screen whilst also making use of Active Blade Management Technology, which now can connect to two CT50 cleavers simultaneously.
