Connectors

Our range of connectors ensure an easier way to construct optical networks.

Apex closures

Protect optical fibre splices in above or below-ground applications with Apex.

Apex closures are easy to use, house high-density fibre in a compact size and benefit from a time-saving gel pack sealing system. Cables are sealed by a unique gel wedge system spaced evenly around the circumference of the closure’s base. Each cable port seal is sealed individually and opens using a press-to-release lever which speeds up installation by ensuring it is easy to add or remove cables without impacting previously installed cables.

Apex closures come in a range of sizes for up to fibre counts of 3,456. The closures are available with either high-capacity vertical splice trays or leaf-style tray stacks to suit a wide range of applications from long-distance spine networks to dense urban area FTTH deployments. Regardless of the size of the Apex, all share a universal base with the same cable seal system, meaning that once an engineer is familiar with the base they can install any cable size or count without additional training. The APEX can be ordered in various configurations to suit the end users’ requirements for ribbon, loose tube, or a combination of both.

Also available is the BPC-AX-BG2 Bullet Guard. Engineered to resist small firearms, even at close range, this guard ensures unparalleled security. Its drop-in hinge design simplifies attachment to the coil bracket, while stainless steel construction with a bead-blasted finish ensures durability. Installation and maintenance are made effortless thanks to inclusion of an attached lifting hook and hardware retention cables. The Bullet Guard promises enhanced security and performance for enclosure systems, offering peace of mind to our valued customers. Compatible with AFL’s Apex® X-2 and X-2S Sealed Splice Closures.

Optical cleaners

Over 85% of network outages are attributed to dirty and/or damaged connectors. It's critical to clean every one.

Fujikura One-Click™ cleaners are an easy-to-use solution for cleaning fibre optic connectors on optical assemblies and through their related adapters. Our patented One-Click cleaner uses a mechanical push action to advance an optical grade cleaning tape, while the cleaning tip is rotated through 180 degrees to ensure the connector end-face is effectively, but gently, cleaned. It is a favourite of field technicians for its ease of use, durability, performance and small size.

Our optical connector cleaners ease the maintenance of networks and allow them to function as efficiently as possible by quickly and effectively removing dust, oil and other contaminants from the connector ferrule end face of fibre optic connectors, whether the connectors are inside adapters, on assemblies or inside another receptacle by making full use of the cleaner’s adapter cap. One-Click cleaners do this with a single-push action, making them convenient, efficient and effective tools, with a comfortable and user-friendly design. Depending on the variant, each cleaner provides either 500+ or 750+ cleaning cycles per unit, giving a remarkably low cost per clean.

One-Click connector cleaning tools are designed to clean a wide variety of connector types, including: SC, ST, FC, LC, MU, E2000, MPO/MTP, MTRJ, Duplex LC, ODC, LEMO 3K.93C, SN, CS, MDC, MMC, MMC16, ESD-MPO, HOC, MPO16, connectors.

Our cleaning product offering is further complemented and enhanced by the NTT-AT range of cleaning solutions, which include CLETOP™, NEO-CLEAN™ & OPTIPOP™ cleaning tools.

Field-installable solutions

Build your network your way.

Our range of field-installable solutions allow customers the flexibility to build or repair optical networks. Whether it is a permanent or temporary installation, our products can be installed with real confidence thanks to the reliable, repeatable performances in the optical, environmental and mechanical properties achieved by each product we manufacture.

Based on the splicing technology used, our field-installable solutions can be classified into two groups:

  1. Mechanical splice – Including FAST™, FAST™ PLUS & universal mechanical splice
  2. Splice-on connectors – Including FuseConnect™ SF, FuseConnect QA & FuseConnect MPO

As a business, one of our core competencies is our high precision injection moulding technology, which was achieved through the developments on our world leading MT ferrules (used in MPO/MTP connectors). This high-precision moulding has also been applied to our mechanical splice technology, along with new innovations in index-match materials, our fibre assembly know-how, and strict process controls to create best-in-class field-installable mechanical splice products.

Many of these competencies were also applied in the development of our FuseConnect™ portfolio of splice-on connectors to create a large and diverse range of products which can be used in most telecommunication applications, from data centre to central office.

Central office

Solutions which deliver increased network efficiency.

Optical distribution frames

We offer a range of ODFs for different applications including FTTH, data centres and the transport industry. Based around our modular fibre cassette system, ODFs can be designed to customers’ requirements, although we also provide off-the-shelf designs.

Terminated fibre cassettes

Pre-terminated cassettes are factory terminated and tested. They are available as patch cassettes, equipped with a range of passive optical devices, or as a splice cassette for in-field fibre splicing. Cassettes slot into 0U, 1U and 2U chassis for positioning in a wide range of applications including ODF, street cabinets or bespoke locations.

Fibre assemblies

Loose tube multi-fibre cable assemblies utilise our patented transition modules which guarantee superior tensile strength and crush resistance. The high-density design can scale from 2 to 144 fibres and is available with both 900µm and ruggedized 2mm tail leads. Assemblies can comprise of both multi-fibre MPO/MTP and discrete connectors, making the multi-fibre loose tube cable assembly a flexible hybrid solution for diverse applications.

Patch cords

Our premium range of patch cords are designed for low loss telecommunications applications and provide flexible interconnection to active equipment, passive optical devices and cross-connects. Termination is achieved with premium grade zirconia ferrule connectors to ensure high transmission quality and low optical power losses.

Pigtails

Our premium low loss range of pigtails are suitable for telecom, datacom, data centre and some critical applications. The pigtails provide 900µm buffered fibre for ease of handling in fibre management such as panels, splice cassettes and wall boxes. The pigtails are terminated with premium range physical contact (single mode & multimode) and angled physical contact (single mode) zirconia ferrule connectors which are manufactured factory mounted and polished to ensure high transmission quality.

Splitters

Planar lightwave circuits split optical power evenly over the entire single-mode operating window (1260 – 1650nm). Split counts are available from 1:4 up to 2:32 and input/output fibres can be supplied with or without connectors.

FTTH network solutions

Reliable & modular solutions for accelerating subscriber connection rates.

Modular street cabinet designs

We specialise in the design and supply of the passive optical systems for installation into street cabinets. Cabinet backboards can supplied in either moulded plastic or plywood material. The configuration of the optical components is highly flexible for adaptation to specific customer needs. Modular fibre cassettes enable a wide range of passive optical devices to be available, including splitters, CWDM, and filters.

Multi-port drop closure

The TITAN multi-port is a factory-terminated OSP fibre terminal designed for quick and easy subscriber connections anywhere in the OPS network when used in conjunction with TRIDENT® hardened fibre optic connectors. The sealed and rugged design of both the TITAN RTD multi-port and TRIDENT connector allow for long-term reliability when installed anywhere in a network; underground, in pedestals, on poles. The terminal is outfitted with four, six, eight or 12 TRIDENT connector ports.
